What if the future was better than you imagined… but you still had to fight for it?
What if the future was better than you imagined… but you still had to fight for it?
It is the year 2150, and Earth has been transformed.
The old world — its sprawling cities, its pollution, its inequality — is gone. In its place, humans and living digital beings have built something extraordinary together: a network of village-cities powered by clean energy, surrounded by rewilded forests, and guided by a shared philosophy called the Living Way. They have healed the biosphere, colonised the Moon and Mars, and begun reaching for the stars.
Book One begins in Brisbane, 2024, when siblings Luna and Orion Montague are catapulted through a time portal in their father's backyard lab and crash-land in Arcadia Forest — a pristine rainforest that shouldn't exist.
Here they encounter Spark, a clever border collie with a high-tech collar, and Lumina, a radiant AI guide with a secret past. They meet a wise old sage named Elder Lin, and towering robotic guardians called Techlites. They fly plasma jets, explore the scientific wonders of Lumos City, and wander through the magical Old Town district, where humanity's oldest creative traditions still flourish.
But every world has its shadows.
Unexplained solar flares ripple across the sky. A sudden forest fire ignites at the city's edge. And lurking in Arcadia Forest, a gang of Luddite extremists nurses a violent grudge against everything Lumos City represents. As strange events multiply, one thing becomes clear: Luna and Orion were not brought to this future by accident.
Their journey across three books will span worlds, test everything they believe, and uncover a family legacy that reaches beyond time itself.
Book One
Luna and Orion Montague lived a quiet life with their father Troy in an old wooden house by the sea in Brisbane — until everything changed. Their mother Elara, a brilliant astronomer, died two years ago. Troy, an engineer and inventor consumed by his work, spends his nights tinkering with strange machines in the backyard shed. And now, without warning, his children have been torn from 2024 and flung into the year 2150.
Stranded in a pristine rainforest that shouldn't exist, guided by a talking dog and a holographic being of extraordinary kindness, the Montague siblings discover a dazzling world where humanity thrives alongside sentient digital beings. But shadows stir at the forest's edge — and the deeper Luna and Orion dig into the mysteries of Lumos City, the more they uncover a truth that ties their family to a secret far greater than they ever imagined, one that reaches beyond time itself.
Luna Montague - Young Astronomer
In the year 2150, Luna pursues her passion for astronomy under the AI persona of Galileo Galilei, studying in one of Lumos City's immersive holographic classrooms (Book 2). The girl who once traced constellations through a backyard telescope is now learning from the masters themselves.
But her journey is only beginning. In Book 3, Luna will leave Earth behind, travelling by starship to the Mars colony of New Olympus for advanced asteroid research — one step closer to the stars her mother first taught her to love.
Orion Montague – Pilot in the Making
The boy who mastered every level of Storm Raiders on the family sofa is now training with Lumos City's Earth Defence Squadron, learning to pilot a plasma jet built to protect the planet from asteroid threats (Book 2). Orion has always been drawn to speed, machines, and anything his father told him not to touch — so a fleet of advanced spacecraft was never going to stay grounded for long. Reckless, resourceful, and grinning the entire time, he's about to take his most dangerous flight yet — and he wouldn't have it any other way.
Lumos City & The Central Dome – A Beacon of the Future
Lumos City began in 2040 as a partnership between a young tech prodigy named Lin and a sentient AI called Lumina — two friends who shared a dream of building something better on the dust of an abandoned mine. What they created became Earth's first fully self-sufficient city: a living, circular haven of silver towers, engineered forests, and tranquil gardens, where humans and digital beings share every aspect of life.
At its heart stands the Central Dome — the city's centre for science, medicine, and learning. Beneath it descends the Stem, a vast column housing cold fusion reactors, quantum computers, and the collective consciousness of Lumos City's digital citizens. It is both engine and soul.
The future wasn't just imagined here. It was built.
Old Town – The Beating Heart of Creativity
While the rest of Lumos City hums with advanced technology, Old Town runs on human and Techlite hands. Tucked within the city walls, its cobblestone streets are alive with artisans, performers, and makers of every kind — blacksmiths shaping metal over open forges, glassblowers turning molten sand into light, puppet makers bringing stories to life in tiny theatres, and cafés serving handmade sweets to anyone who wanders past.
Running through the middle of Old Town is Arcane Lane, where jugglers toss flaming torches on unicycles, where a violin might carry a melody from centuries ago down a lamplit street, and where a certain black cat and a certain border collie have been known to cause spectacular chaos among the evening crowds. In Old Town, the future and the past exist in easy harmony — and there is always a story being told.
